Where Do Our Students Go?
Because we help our students achieve top grades in A-Level Maths, they go on to many of the country's leading Russell Group universities studying everything from Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, to Maths, Physics and Engineering, Law, Economics and Finance and degree aprenticeships.
Why I Created This Programme
The reason most students don't achieve the top grades in A-Level Maths is not because they're weak at maths.

It's because the teaching in schools is rushed, foundational skills and knowledge are taken for granted by teachers and there is little individual support for your child.
But the biggest problem is the lack of focus in school on training your child how to tackle the exam paper questions successfully. The consequence is that, for your child, it's very much a case of sink or swim.

Traditional tutoring fails to address these problems because it lacks a long term plan. That's why I built my A-Level Maths Accelerator Programme - a structured, exam-focused system that prepares students for the way A-Level Maths is actually assessed.

Having gained first class degree in Mathematics from York University back in the 1990s, I've spent over 30 years teaching and examining Maths and leading schools, and having retiredfron Headship I realised that with the rising difficulty in the A-Level Maths exams and the increasing competition for places at the top universities, students needed something more than they're getting from their school.

The jump from GCSE to A-Level Maths has always been a big one. Not so much because students aren't capable, but more because of GCSE teaching is often rushed and lacks of rigour, particularly in algebra an trigonometry.
The A-Level Maths exam papers are very diffierent from what they were 15 years ago. Yet schools are stil using the textbooks which were printed back in 2017 and exam preparation hasn't moved on much. At the same time, the grade boundaries for the top grades have steadily risen. This in part is why it's tougher than ever for your child to reach the grades they need for that top university. And it's why I developed my Accelerator Method for teaching A-Level Maths.
The Accelerator Approach
The Maths A-Team Accelerator Approach is designed to give students the breadth and depthof knowledge needed to be among the highest scoring students in the final exams. We focus on developing
Recall of the fundamentals, so when they see a question in the exam, they recognise what it is and what is required
Accuracy and fluency when completing exam questions, so they get to the solution efficiently and without errors
Speed in completing exam papers, so they give themselves sufficient time to spend on the more challenging questions and never run out of time in the exam.
Exam Confidence through weekly practice, so students know exactly how to tackle each and every question type to maximise their marks
